Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Angel Cafe

Type of work

Client project

July 2016

Technologies used

HTML, CSS (Sass), PHP, WordPress, Photoshop and Illustrator

After the massive success of his cheesecake shops in Toronto, Uncle Tetsu opened up a third location in early 2016. At the time, it was the only place in the world that offered a sit down experience for eating his cakes. Inspired by maid cafes in Japan, the servers all wear maid uniforms. Wanting to break into the Japanese business market, I approached the cafe when they opened as they didn’t have a website yet.

I designed and coded the website by myself, building on a premium WordPress theme. Using Advanced Custom Fields and knowledge of shortcodes, I created an easy way for the client to make changes to the website. There was some difficulty getting content such as images, videos and copy, but overall it was a great project!
